SUMMARY: The Buyer is responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring goods and services essential to the organization’s operations, with a focus on supporting manufacturing and managing inventory areas. This role ensures that high-quality products are obtained at competitive prices while maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with suppliers. Key responsibilities include organizing, ordering, stocking, distributing, cycle counting inventory, and maintaining accurate master data in SAP. The Buyer serves as the primary point of contact for shop supply vendors, collaborates with internal stakeholders across divisions and contributes to the organization’s overall efficiency and competitiveness through continuous improvement initiatives, strategic procurement practices, and alignment with industry trends.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Generate, process, and complete purchase requisitions and orders in accordance with company policies
- Ensure prompt and accurate delivery of goods and services to support manufacturing operations
- Monitor and manage inventory levels to prevent shortages or excess stock
- Maintain and update master data in SAP to ensure accurate records
- Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to resolve product quality or performance issues
- Identify potential suppliers, assess their performance, and negotiate favorable pricing and contract terms
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with key vendors, monitoring service levels to ensure reliability
- Conduct market research to stay current on industry trends, new products, and supply chain developments
- Ensure adherence to contractual agreements, company policies, and regulatory requirements
- Assess and mitigate risks within the supply chain to maintain operational continuity
- Deliver supplies to the shop floor to fulfill operational demands and requests
- Receive, inspect, and process incoming materials accurately
- Resolve discrepancies between receipts and vendor invoices in a timely manner
- Manage returns of defective or damaged items efficiently
- Perform cycle counts and maintain accurate inventory records
- Operate forklifts and oversee physical inventory movements safely and efficiently
- Provide regular updates and reports on procurement metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs)
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend automation solutions
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance procurement processes and efficiency
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school education or equivalent required
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field preferred
- 3+ years of experience in purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in facilities, maintenance, or manufacturing
- Experience with large-scale ERP system, preferably SAP
- APICS certification a plus
- Proficient with MS Office Suite
- Computer skills in 10-key
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills
- Effective communication and negotiation skills with suppliers and internal stakeholders
- Attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work
- Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Availability for business travel is required, estimated at 10%

Full-time position with standard Monday through Friday schedule
