Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and program advanced machinery, including 3-, 4-, and 5-axis mills, while ensuring impeccable precision (tolerances < .0001).
- Expert CAM programming for multiple complex programs.

Job Summary:
The Machinist is responsible for independently operating, programming, and troubleshooting multiple types of machining equipment, with a focus on maintaining high precision and efficiency. This role requires a deep understanding of machining techniques and the ability to collaborate with various departments, including Engineering and vendors, to ensure seamless production and equipment setup.
Key Responsibilities:
- Precision Machining: Achieve and maintain tolerances below .0001 while operating multiple complex machines simultaneously, including 3-, 4-, and 5-axis mills.
- CAM Programming: Program and modify CAM files for various parts and materials.
- Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues quickly and effectively, ensuring minimal downtime.
- Blueprint Analysis: Analyze technical prints, select appropriate work holding, tooling, and machining techniques for optimal results.
- Machining Techniques: Utilize a strong understanding of all machining techniques such as turning, milling, grinding, and other department-specific equipment like bending machines.
- Operational Flow: Oversee and understand each operation in the manufacturing flow to ensure smooth transitions between steps.
- Material Expertise: Apply advanced knowledge of over 5 alloys and understand how heat and cold impact the properties of each material.
- Inspection & Quality: Use advanced inspection equipment to check parts and components, knowing when to apply specific techniques and understanding what will or will not work.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Engineering on new machine purchases and setup, and collaborate with vendors on tooling requirements.
- Part Assessment: Review and assess parts from start to finish, ensuring complete understanding of customer needs and product functionality.
- Equipment Setup: Manage the purchase, setup, and layout strategy for new equipment as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Proven experience in operating, programming, and troubleshooting complex machining equipment.
- Expert CAM programming skills across multiple programs.
- Deep understanding of machining techniques (turning, milling, grinding, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of various alloys (5+), with an understanding of heat and cold effects.
- Advanced knowledge of inspection techniques and when to apply different methods.
- Ability to assess and optimize the part-building process from start to finish.
- Experience working with vendors and partnering with Engineering for equipment purchases.
- Ability to operate a variety of mills, including 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis.
Work Environment:
This role involves working in a manufacturing environment with large machinery, requiring adherence to all safety standards. It may involve standing for extended periods, lifting heavy materials, and working with high-precision instruments.
WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time, Monday – Friday, 2nd shift (3pm - 11pm) or 3rd shift hours (11PM to 7AM)
COMPENSATION: DOE, Machinist pay scale ($27 - $40 per hour DOE) + shift differential
