SUMMARY

Specific personnel responsibilities of the Business Unit Leader include directing workflow, performance evaluations, performance (quality and production), project management, training, and effective coaching.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – 80 %
- Supervision and training of production support, process improvement, and manufacturing engineers.
- Ensure departmental standard work is well documented, easily accessible, current, relevant, accurate, and followed.
- Conduct regular departmental meetings and in general, is available for one-on-one interaction.
- Coordinate and communicate the departmental workload. This includes tweaking the engineering processes and removing obstacles so department employees can work as efficiently as possible.
- Coordinate and supervise project process and results per the Wilson Tool Project System. This includes project recommendation, proposal, research, and implementation.
- Make changes in process and design when necessary.
- Ensure the service level of the department is meeting the company’s expectations; establishing departmental objectives/KPIs that relate to the Wilson Tool VTO/Strategic Plan.
- Follow standard work designed for leaders, modeling lean principles and work practices.
- Coordinate process flow and manufacturing of new and existing products.
- Recommend process and product improvements as needed.
- Hold employees accountable for their quality, productivity, and behavior taking disciplinary action when warranted.
- Mentoring employees in their career development and goals.
- Completion of performance evaluations that are fair and timely.
- Maintain a good understanding of overall company operations.
- As a leader within the company, strive towards earning the respect of all employees and actively support and encourage employee development.
- Promote, communicate, encourage, and display Wilson's core values throughout the organization.
- Provide positive, effective coaching and mentoring to employees.
- Foster strong communication within the department and with all other departments.

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT SUMMARY
Collaborates with other Business Unit Leaders and Managers to assist in the development, planning, implementing, documenting, and tracking of CI cost reductions and managing the organization's continuous improvement initiatives to reduce operating costs and improve manufacturing efficiencies.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – 20 %
- Leadership Assistance
- Training employees on the lean/CI techniques as well as the Wilson Tool Operating System (WTOS).
- Mentor and develop Lean practitioners/specialists throughout the company.
- Assist with the strategic planning and goal setting related to the WTOS.
- Kaizen Event Support
- Conduct lean development training as necessary for Kaizen participants.
- Work with area sponsors to ensure sustainment is achieved for all Kaizen events.
- Provide input to the planning of future Kaizen events.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering or equivalent preferred plus a minimum of 5 years experience in a manufacturing environment or related field or 10 years experience in a similar manufacturing environment and processes with increasing responsibilities including prior leadership.
- Strong knowledge of SolidWorks and associated systems (PDM, CAM, Macros)
- Strong knowledge of SAP and associated system modules
- Strong knowledge of CI/Lean Tools & systems
- Strong knowledge of MS Office and general PC software
- Must have leadership skills and the ability to mentor, coach, inspire, and create a successful work environment. Must also have strong interpersonal and team-building skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills (verbal and written) and the ability to communicate effectively and interact with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to motivate, create, and maintain a positive work environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands and work environment are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. In addition to continuous sitting and working on a computer, the role may involve continuous reaching forward between shoulder/waist, bending/twisting/rotating, and simple grasping and writing. Occasional exposure to an indoor manufacturing environment, chemicals, and/or fumes may occur. The ability to stand and walk frequently and occasionally lift and carry up to 25 lbs. is required.
